Deep within each and every one of us is the memory of experiences and perceptions that we held as a child. We call this our “inner child”. This part of us is emotionally vulnerable and longs to be accepted, appreciated, acknowledge and loved. The wounds and traumas from our childhood may still continue to influence the way we think, feel, act and behave as adults. You may find that you continually re-live the same scenarios in life, such as finding partners who mirror you back your original dysfunctional upbringing. As a result of childhood wounds and the inner pain, we may reject and disown some parts of us which then manifest as a “shadow inner child” in our everyday life.

The reason why the healing of our childhood wounds and becoming aware of any suppressed anger, resentment, bitterness, frustration, strong emotional vulnerability or insecurity is so important is that those suppressed emotions are calling forth a certain behaviour from those around you. You probably heard the phrase all healing starts from within without understanding what this actually means exactly. Being easily triggered is a very clear indicator that we have some inner work to do.
When we can develop some humour when our buttons are pushed we will notice that some issues that have been constantly present in our life might completely dissolve.
The process of becoming whole again happens through our inner child. This is the aspect of us that wants to be seen, heard acknowledged and integrated.
On a conscious level, we often have the desire to change or to be less reactive but our heavy conditioning or traumatic childhood experiences prevent us from dissolving some of the core wounds.

It’s been suggested that after repeating the same thoughts or behaviour patterns for 21 to 40 days, they become a new habit.
